JOB OVERVIEW

The Senior Buyer helps to facilitate the smooth running of the Purchasing Team, by aiding in developing purchasing strategies, maintaining positive relationships with suppliers, and coordinating with internal teams regarding their supply needs.

The Senior Buyer reports to the Director of Operations, helping to ensure that all aspects of purchasing support the organization’s goals and objectives. The ideal candidate must be able to handle multiple priorities, instill confidence in their team members, and have solid judgement and decision-making skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Includes the following. Other duties as assigned.

  • Executes and monitors purchase orders or vendor contracts as needed to support critical business needs.
  • Supports company goals by assisting in maintaining standards for cost controls, lead times, freight terms, and quality requirements.
  • Maintains existing supplier relationships as well as develops new relationships with potential suppliers.
  • Proactively assesses supplier performance to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Provides guidance to purchasing team in their daily activities.
  • Maintains integrity of procurement data within the ERP system.
  • Negotiates purchasing agreements.
  • Works with Logistics Specialist to minimize inbound freight expenses for the company.
  • Participates in the S&OP process and ensures alignment of material supply to support customer forecast.
  • Works closely with the Distribution Center and Quality Control Team to ensure that all incoming goods meet appropriate standards.
  • Works closely with Finance to ensure invoice discrepancy resolution.
  • Stays connected to market dynamics and price trends.
  • Helps to drive continuous improvement in all aspects of the procurement process.
  • Identifies and mitigates risk, solves problems, and escalates as needed to management.
  • Fosters a culture committed to collaboration, innovation, and operational excellence.
  • Assists in developing standard operating procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or a combination of education and equivalent experience required.
  • APICS/CPIM or equivalent a plus.

Experience

  • 5-7+ years of direct work-related experience.
  • Experience in a global sourcing environment.
  • Demand planning and forecasting experience.
  • Highly skilled with ERP systems and business process monitoring as it pertains to the supply chain. Netsuite & Netstock experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office. High proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Logistics experience with exposure to import-export requirements a plus
  • Bilingual English and Spanish a plus.
